STUART & HOLLIE

10 MAY 2023 | IPSWICH, QUEENSLAND

The dreamiest shoot I could ever imagine! Before every shoot, it's top priority to get a conversation going about outfit choices. The usual - No graphic tees, and no matchy matchy. Some muted, earthy tones usually work best for shoots in natural spaces. The goal is to capture timeless photos with an aesthetically pleasing colour pallet. We don't want to everyone to look like they are matching in some sort of family uniform, but we definitely still want everyone to look cohesive.

So Hollie went off on a shopping spree, and sent me some snaps of her oufit selection. "Is this too much colour?", she asked. Immediately, I was absolutely in love with the contrast of the solid, soft blue dress, against the patterned orange and pink floral dress, for little Norah. I texted back straight away "No, this is perfect! I love it!"

That week, a news article (see down below) went viral with this exact dress! It caused quite the stir with Target lovers, with many divided over the price, but I am here to tell you, it is totally worth $100, thank you very much! Hollie pulled it off amazingly. Her long red hair glistened in the field of dry grass, catching the golden light of the setting sun. Balanced out perfectly, with soft baby-blue cotton. Magic was made that day!

The star of the show was little Norah. After the shoot she came up to me, and said "Thank you very much for taking our pictures, I had lots of fun!", followed by the biggest little cuddle. I mean, what? This was totally unpromted by mum and dad, and I even got feedback after the shoot saying that Norah was a little sad that I wasn't in any of the photos with their family. I mean, can someone adopt me to be Norah's big sister now?! She was just the cutest little darling under the sun!

We had such a fun afternoon, looking at clouds, running around mum and dad like aeroplanes, and getting some good quality cuddles in. It was their first shoot of the 4 of them all together, which made it that much more special!

After viewing the photos for the first time, this was Hollie's reaction:

"Oh my goodness they are so gorgeous Astrid! Thank you so much. I'm going to treasure these! Norah is upset that you aren't in any photos, LOL. Thank you, I really love them. So super grateful for you taking these and I hope so much that they look good on your grid, and that your business just goes from strength to strength!"

I just love when client's see the vision and outcome of their session come to life! See their full visual story below.
